Kaguyahime




Last night's première of Kaguyahime by the GBCM was a wondrous dance event,

an outrageous blast of fresh air in the rarefied atmosphere of classical dance.

The fact that Japanese musicians like occasional improvisation might have had

something to do with it, forcing the dancers to communicate and express themselves.

The male dancers were, for once, strong and I found myself thinking afterwards

Perez Hilton would have been in seventh heaven. One gathers that Jiri Kylian doesn't

travel and that the choreography is transmitted by the dancers of the original 1980s

production. Technically, very powerful. The theme song below:
