The Law

The government of  France passed a bill, December 4, which penalises
the client of prostitution with a fine of 1 500 euros.

80% of prostitutes in France are now of foreign origin (against 20% in
1990).They come from Eastern Europe, Africa, China and South America
and are brought in illegally in slavery conditions. A lot of money is involved,
where one person can generate 150 000 euros a year revenues.

The new law  depenalises prostitution, and offers a lawful entry to citizenship
to the women involved.

Needless to say there is considerable opposition, from the frankly comical
males who protest the law ‘in the name of literature’, to more earnest
boomers who would see prostitution becoming a regular form of employment
with pension benefits.

Brothels are illegal in France.

Sweden and Norway are the two pioneer countries to have voted this kind of law.
Germany has taken the boomer route, with large friendly brothels.

What of the clients? It would appear that the free offer of pornography is a constant
in inciting men. There is also a blooming industry of occasionals: students, housewives,
young men which is delocalised.
