All the objects we perceive reflect color; a sunny day shines a yellow light because the
other wavelengths are filtered out in the atmosphere. But noticing carefully, one sees the
light is yellow on white or near-white surfaces - like the sidewalk - which reflect all
wavelengths.
If I layer on a partially opaque figure on another that is fully opaque, I get a paintshop
effect.
