All that pomp and pagentry - and popular fun - from London over the week-end

brings to mind how much London is a Roman city. Indeed it was founded by the Romans 

at their conquest of Britain in AD46. 

An interesting Quora post on the Roman reformer Marius recently came through.

He is a pivotal figure in the transition of Rome from a Republic to an Imperium.
