Silurian

 Watched this awesome little YouTube video on the Silurian. Those cones are

interesting - they could reach 20 feet - and are essentially mushrooms. The name 

itself is a bit odd: the Silures were a Celtic tribe from Wales. But the identification 

of life strata in rocks by Murchison in the 19th century marks the beginnings in the 

development of a biological Timescale.

Yesterday was Municipal Elections Day in Quebec. Montreal has a new mayor, Ms Ferrada

of the Ensemble Montreal Party. Interestingly, she was a member of the Liberal Party of

Canada, and served as a Minister in the Trudeau government.
