Been reading about the Donbas; the contentious region in the Ukraine War.
Control of the Donbas is the sine qua non for Russia; Ukraine has been vehemently opposed
from day 1. I am beginning to see why.
The term 'Donbas' is a portemanteau for Donets Coal Basin; the industrial heartland of
of Ukraine. A mining area since the 19th century, with a convenient port on the Sea of Azov.
And today, with a great deal of industrial infrastucture. It represents some 20% of the total
area of Ukraine.
So utterly unreasonable on this, both sides...
