Bernoulli numbers were developed by Jacob Bernoulli as an
aid in calculation aid, and were published in 1713, after his death.
He wanted a general formula for adding a series of natural numbers at a
specified power; constructed upon the binomial theorem, the Bernouilli
numbers are the required coefficients.
