Declination

 Been trying to understand how the number of daylight hours

for a given location, and given day is calculated. Was missing 

a crucial definition: the Earth's declination angle. Below:

The math involved in the calculations need not be daunting. With

acos, one is trying to find an angle where one knows the effect. And the
 
effect is the conjoined result of the latitude displacement - which is constant -

and the one occasioned by the presence of the planetary tilt, which changes 

every day. From there, one gets the daylight hours.
