This piece is interesting, because it takes us back to the beginnings of
fentanyl. A synthetic opioid is such a breakthrough that it might have been better
left to be taken in a form that releases its potency over time, like a patch.
From today's perspective, might we not use it that way again!?
So fentanyl is now what heroin addicts graduate to; the high that is even more
potent. Maybe we should think of it as a three-day patch that makes heroin
withdrawl less difficult, as an aid to detoxification...
