Went to Walmart's yesterday. It was sunny but extremely windy, especially
in the open spaces I walked through. I have right-of-way crossing Industrial
Blvd, and ended up piling trucks and motorists to stop as I struggled to cross
against the wind.
Prices are as always, with bargains on yogurt and the like. I scored a 340g box
of Rice Krispies for $4 CAD. For thirsty males, they carry little cans of Heineken...
It was so much easier walking home, with the wind at my back. I don't go often,
it is not my 'hood, although it is for a large number of families!! Had to force
myself to not look at the assortment of pastries, cold meats and so forth. I was
feeling all restraint slipping away from me!!
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY TO ALL!

AI summary from the Wall Street Journal:
Here's a summary of the article:
Avocado Prices Expected to Rise Due to Tariffs on Mexican Imports
The US has imposed tariffs on Mexican avocado imports, which may lead to higher prices for American consumers.
Key Points:
The US Trade Representative's office announced a 17.56% tariff on Mexican avocado imports, citing concerns over Mexico's failure to prevent illegal deforestation and protect labor rights.
Mexico is the largest supplier of avocados to the US, accounting for about 90% of imports.
Avocado prices are already high due to factors like drought and high demand, and the tariffs may further increase costs for US consumers.
The tariffs are set to take effect on April 1, 2025.
Impact:
The tariffs may benefit US avocado farmers, who have long complained about unfair competition from Mexican imports.
However, the increased costs may be passed on to consumers, affecting demand and potentially impacting the broader avocado market.
