Kerala Problem

Got myself a little problem for tomorrow: understanding climate numbers
for Kerala, that Southern province of India which has gotten so much rain
lately. Below, Kerala is - as is India  - in the Northern atmosphere, but it is within
the tropic of Cancer. One will recall that the tropic lines are the limits of
where one will find the Sun overhead as the Earth tilts with the seasons. Thus,
at the summer solstice, Kerala is - climatically speaking - South of the equator!?

The climte of Kerala is here characterized as eqautorial rather than monsoon.
Such a climate experiences the most rain at (its) equinoxes.
