Thin

I am feeling vaguely guilty about it, never having
really nailed this whole business about thin fashion
models, but it hit me watching a documentary about
Karl Lagerfeld. A fashion show shows clothes, not girls;
it is a moment when the clothes are free, don't belong
to anyone, don't serve any purpose. They are being shown
without an owner body, in the wind. The models are the
occasion of their appearane, and do not smile, have no
real personnality. Even in his most extravagant display, KL
never required his models to turn on as people. The smiling
pictures were for after the show.
