Yesterday was Refrigerator Day for me. I do try to keep it clean and
discard anything unfresh but once a year in summer - on
a particularly warm day - I turn it off, take everything out, and do a deep
clean and sort. I even remove the glass inside the shelves from their plastic
frame and go after every last little crumb...
This year, I'm innovating and added organizer gizmos: a large glass basket in
the freezer for chicken nuggets, pieces of salmon and other back-up protein
sources and a condiment wheel for quick access to olives and such rather than
searching in exasperation among the jams and nut butters!! Credit where credit
is due, I got the idea for this from Youtuber Amberlynn Reid who redoes her fridge
and pantries on the regular. Yeah USA!

In the evening I made blueberry buckle - a dish popular in Atlantic Canada - from
a recipe that predates home computers. I have it on a recipe card, and it was from
Canadian Living Magazine. One of the nice things about it is that it is different every time one
makes it, depending on the size of the blueberries. This year I had large ones.
It is delicious while still a little warm...😳!!
