OxyFoxy

I've been watching various youtube docs on the Oxycontin issue, something I hadn't really picked up on when it was happening. Today it is somewhat moot because there is now a new form of the drug, in a tablet that cannot be abused: Oxicontin is a time-release version of Oxicodone, a narcotic-family drug for chronic pain, and it had a brief career as a street drug.

The docs below are two quite interesting ones: the first a fascinating historical view of narcotics, the second the CBC take on the problem in Canada. The CBC doc is not as gripping as some of the US ones, but it does eventually offer a non-sensationalist version of things. Good old CBC, reliable if a little stodgy.

In a more serious vein, one does see that the CBC has a role, but needs to be better integrated with other sources of information for the whole to make sense.

The BBC, in its treatment of the obesity issue in the UK, always links back to its site and resources!!
